Doug spent a lot of time in the hills around town with the family, and no matter how far we went, or how long we spent, there came a time to head for the truck. Doug would trot out as far as he could and still keep us in sight, jump up on the highest point, and stand there, sniffing the wind. Then he'd look back at us as if he couldn't believe we were going. After a couple of minutes, Doug would zoom past us and lead us back. We will remember him that way, because it was something he did without fail for 12 1/2 years.
